Sharks’ Vann Breaks State Mark

Gavin Vann, 12, of Bentonville recently set a state record for 11- and 12-year-old boys in the 100-yard backstroke during the Arkansas Swimming Inc. Age Group Championships in Little Rock. Steve Duwel saw Gavin Vann’s split time during the 200-yard backstroke and knew something big was about to happen. It did — just in a later event.
