100 YEARS AGO March 20, 1913 HELENA — The first accident in connection with the new safety gates recently installed by the railroads at the intersections of the principal streets occurred this afternoon when an automobile smashed into the gates just as they were being lowered for a passing engine. The stability of the guards, which checked the car, was all that saved the car from destruction.
