LR man arrested in murder

A Little Rock man was charged with capital murder and robbery Friday after he shot a Morrilton man who was trying to buy drugs, police said.

Edwin Warren, 21, surrendered and was charged with capital murder and two counts of aggravated robbery. He was taken to the Pulaski County jail, where he was awaiting a bail hearing.

Warren is accused of fatally shooting Jaxson Guinn, 19, in the upper torso, police said. Guinn died about 2:15 a.m. Friday at UAMS Medical Center, Pulaski County Coroner Gerone Hobbs said.

Just before 12:45 p.m. Thursday, Guinn and hisfriend Wesley Ball, 20, were parked just south of Battery and West 27th streets, where they planned to “buy some pills” from a man known only as “Edwin,” according to police reports.

“Edwin” pulled a gun and yelled “give me all you got” before shooting into the truck, police said. Guinn was struck and drove to 2500 S. Schiller St. before pulling over and calling for help, police said. He was taken to UAMS with life-threatening injuries where he died, police said.

Ball had dumped a bottle of pills out of the truck “to help his friend out,” police reports state. Officers also found a bag of “white, powdery substance” in the center console of the truck.
