Fleur Delicious Weekend serves up French cuisine

Restaurants, bars, art galleries, boutiques, spas, music venues and shops in Eureka Springs are getting together July 9-14 to put on the third annual Fleur Delicious Weekend.

The French-themed event kicks off early with the Ciroc Vodka Bartender Competition, 5 p.m. Wednesday at Caribe Restaurante y Cantina, 309 W. Van Buren St. (U.S. 62 W.).

Chef Rob Nelson of Tusk & Trotter prepares “Samplings and Sips,” 5-7 p.m. July 9 at the Writers Colony at Dairy Hollow, 515 Spring St.

On July 11, the Eureka Springs Farmers Market will offer cooking demonstrations with Chef Dave Gilderson of the Grand Taverne and K.J.Zumwalt of Caribe, with music by Ozark Flavor, 7 a.m.-noon at the Village at Pine Mountain, 2075 E. Van Buren St. (U.S. 62 E.). At 7 p.m., Bob Norman will host a “Burlesque Drink and Draw” at Voulez-Vous Lounge , 63A Spring St. And Caribe will offer a three-course, French-inspired farmers market dinner with wines from Railway Winery, 6 -8 p.m.

Vintage Cargo, a “Euro-Vintage Marketplace,” 41 Kingshighway, will serve up French coffee and pastries, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. July 12. From 4:30-6 p.m., the Queen Anne Mansion, 115 W. Van Buren, will host “Bubbles & Boudoir,” a champagne tasting and lingerie show courtesy of the Fine Art of Romance.

DeVito’s of Eureka Springs, 5 Center St., will offer (in addition to its regular menu) a Fleur Delicious dinner menu and French wine flights, starting at 5 p.m., July 12-14.

July 13 will feature the “Door to Door, Luxe Galore” shopping spree at participating boutiques throughout the town; a cooking class and luncheon with owner-chef Linda Hager, 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Cottage Inn, 450 W. Van Buren; and free music in Basin Spring Park after 1 p.m. Waiters and waitresses from area restaurants will race down Spring Street in the Waiter’s Race at 3 p.m. Mount Victoria Bed & Breakfast, 28 Fairmount St., will host a Fabuleaux Edible Art Cocktail Soiree, 4:30-6 p.m.

The Crystal Dining Room at the Crescent Hotel, 75 Prospect Ave., will serve Sunday brunch with French champagne and a French food station, 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 14. Eureka Live Underground, 35 N. Main St., will host the “Costume Contest and Drag Show & Let Them Drink Cake Party” at 4 p.m. Keels Creek Vineyard, 3185 E. Van Buren, will serve wine and light French-inspired finger foods at 6:30 p.m. for “Sips at Sunset.” The Cottage Inn will celebrate Bastille Day with a French wine dinner at 7 p.m.

Banding together

The 30-member U.S. Navy Band Mid-South will offer a concert of patriotic melodies and traditional military band music at 7 p.m. Monday at the Ritz Civic Center, 306 W. Main St., Blytheville, under theauspices of the Arts Council of Mississippi County.

Forrest City season

“An Evening With Bill Cosby” at 7 p.m. April 26 will cap East Arkansas Community College’s “Season IV” in its Fine Arts Center, 1700 Newcastle Road, Forrest City.

Drama camp

Professional actors Emory Tyson Molitor and Catherine Martin will teach a one-week Drama Camp for students who have finished kindergarten and are able to read, 9 a.m.-noon Aug. 5-9 at the River Valley Arts Center, 1001 E. B St., Russellville.

The camp will culminate in a mini-performance to showcase what the students have learned. Campers are asked to provide props/hats for the “Imagination Box”; all other supplies are furnished, including a camp T-shirt, certificate and daily snacks. Fee is $85, $75 for center members.
