Double Suicide Likely, Police Say

The Boone County sheriff ’s office is investigating the deaths of a Boone County couple who suffered apparent self-inflicted gunshot wounds at their home, a news release from the sheriff’s office said.

Kenneth Grable, 84, and his wife, Carol Grable, 70, died in their home on U.S. 62 East near Harmon on Monday, according to a news release.

Emergency medical personnel responding to a LifeAlert activation at the residence were met at the door by an elderly woman pointing a gun at them, the news release said. Sheriff’s deputies called to the scene found Carol Grable dead on the couch and Kenneth Grable dead in bed.

The deaths are under investigation, pending the medical examiner’s findings, but the sheriff’s office said evidence and witness statements suggest the Grables both died from self-inflicted gunshot wounds.
