Mann files appeal to U.S. high court

Randeep Mann, the former Russellville physician who is serving a life sentence for orchestrating a 2009 grenade explosion that severely injured the former chairman of the state Medical Board, has lodged an appeal of his conviction and sentence with the U.S. Supreme Court.

According to documents filed Thursday in federal court in Little Rock, Mann filed his petition to have his case heard by the nation’s highest court on June 11.

Mann’s case has been upheld by the 8th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, but he has said he intended to appeal all the way to the Supreme Court.
