PUBLIC VIEWPOINT: GOP Has Surprising History

Posted: July 29, 2013 at 4 a.m.

Many people believe the GOP has in recent years been subverted, placing only candidates on the ballot that are, in fact, Republicans in name only.

This story is only available from our archives.

So now we're back to fighting the communists or is it Communists.
Well, I looked it up online and two guys in Lincoln Nebraska (ironic because they hate Lincoln) have written a book claiming the Union Army and the Republican Party were infiltrated and led by Marxists escaping from the failed European revolutions of 1848.
Anybody who can think up a conspiracy theory.can write a book about it, and so the meme spreads.

Both parties have changed philosophies and tactics over time. Other political groups have sought many times to influence or invade the politics and political conscience of America. Most politicians are wolves in sheeps clothing and they trade constumes back and forth among themselves and between political parties all the time. So what's the point? can't trust any of them and that may be why the founding fathers and framers of the Constitution were so admant about limiting the powers of the a central government in favor of leaving most rights to the states and the people.

Coralie, it wasn't until WWII that "communist" became a negative and feared label. FDR could easily claim that he had friends who were communists because there wasn't such a stigma attached to the term until after WWII and the signing of National Security Act of 1947.
Btw, that's the date Gore Vidal uses to mark the end of our democratic Republic.

To create any national enemy themes requires constant immersion in fear and that is work of propagandists. Thanks William Randolf Hearst.

Governments of men ultimately do what any other organization created by men seeks to accomplish. Control. It is no different in the evolution of our federal government. Even though when it was created there were safeguards in place to limit it's power it has slowly and bit by bit chipped away using predicent and adminstrative rules to exercise more and more control. Here we are over 200 years later and it has succeeded in growing to the point that it regulates or controls nearly every aspect of every citizens life. Personal feedom and liberty are myths and the right to self determination is interrupted and subjugated to goverment permissions at every turn. It is time for the People to tear that fiefdom down and start over.

"It is time for the People to tear that fiefdom down and start over."
Again with the call to revolution by Jeffieboy.
Just what would a better nation or Constitution or government look like?
Is there any model in the world today or in the historical past?
You won't get enough followers without a vision of what will replace what is now.

Here's a general call to Jeffie, MyCent, Money, or anybody else who thinks that our government has (suddenly?) become totally corrupt and is both morally and financially bankrupt.

If you can't even envision the alternative, then stop the crying already yet.
