Man Gets Probation, Jail In Case

A 19-year-old Rogers man must serve 118 days in jail and be on state-supervised probation for 10 years after pleading guilty to a series of drive-by blowdart and paintball shootings.

Jeremy Robert Hendrix pleaded guilty Thursday to three counts of battery in the second degree, a Class D felony; and two counts of second degree assault, a Class B misdemeanor. He pleaded guilty under a plea agreement attorney Kim Weber reached with Carrie Dobbs, deputy prosecutor.

Hendrix and William Goines were arrested in October in connection with a series of blowdart and paintball shootings in Rogers, according to court documents.

Chad Grundy of 712 S. Chateau reported Sept. 13 he was struck by a paintball pellet fired by a man in a moving vehicle, according to court documents. Leigh-Ann Archuleta was hit in the neck by a dart at 1203 W. Olive St. on Sept. 21. Police were called to Kohl’s, 301 N. 46th St., on Sept. 26 where Katia Barnel Flores was hit in the back with a blow dart. Marshall Brown reported he was hit by a dart Sept. 21 while standing in his front yard in the 3600 block of West Beech Drive, according to court documents. Kristen Hill reported she was hit by a paintball in mid-September while walking her dog in the Whispering Timbers subdivision.

Rogers police detectives discovered the purchase of a blowdart device and darts from Cabela’s and obtained a security photo of the buyer who they identified as Hendrix, according to court documents.

Dobbs said none of the victims were seriously injured, but the incidents frightened them. Dobbs said she had informed the victims and police of the plea and there were no objections to the deal.

Hendrix made a bad decision, Weber said.

“I think he’s very contrite and remorseful and has been easy to work with,” Weber said.

Circuit Judge Brad Karren accepted the plea agreement and Hendrix’s guilty pleas. Hendrix was placed on probation for 10 years, was sentenced to 118 days in the Benton County Jail and must pay $1,420 in court costs. Karren also ordered Hendrix not to have paintball, airsoft or blowdart guns in his possession.

Goines of Rogers previously pleaded guilty to the same charges and was placed on 10 years of state-supervised probation.
