Deputies Link Man To Sexual Indecency

FAYETTEVILLE — An Evansville man, already facing criminal charges in connection with possessing child pornography, faces new charges in connection with exposing himself to two children, according to Washington County Sheriff's Office deputies.

Investigators arrested Johnny D. Carte, 61, of 22481 Hale Mountain Road in connection with two counts of felony sexual indecency with a child.

Agents with the Arkansas Attorney General’s Office arrested Carte on June 29 after they seized computer files from his home with what appeared to be pornographic images of children, according to an arrest report.

Agents viewed and verified 30 pornographic images of children, though the folder contained 2,600 files, according to the report. Investigators said the files contained nude images of boys, between the ages 6 and 10, posing in a “sexually explicit manner.”

According to detectives, Carte said he had a sexual attraction to young boys and a long history of sexually abusing children. He claimed that history dates back to 1985 in Lincoln. Carte recalled eight incidents in which he raped and/or took nude photographs of children, according to the report.

Upon further investigation, detectives said they learned July 18 that Carte also exposed himself to two boys in 2010.

The boys, now ages 10 and 12, told officers Carte, whom they called “Deacon,” took them to a pond in Evansville to go fishing, according to the report.

Investigators said Carte told the boys to pull their pants down. The boys said they obeyed Carte and he also pulled his pants down and began to masturbate, according to the report.

Carte was being held Tuesday in the Washington County Detention Center without bond.
