SHORT HOPS The Los Angeles Angels signed OF Cyle Hankerd and assigned him to Class AA Arkansas on Monday. Hankerd, 28, had been playing with the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs of the independent Atlantic League, where he hit .322 with 22 home runs and 61 RBI in 81 games playing left and right field. He spent last season in the Chicago White Sox organization, hitting .325 with 15home runs and 51 RBI at Class A Winston-Salem. … The Travelers and the Naturals were tied atop the Texas League North Division heading into Monday’s game to start a three-game series.
