Purple Heart Order To Rally In Rogers

The Military Order of the Purple Heart will hold its national convention Aug. 5-10 at the John Q. Hammons Convention Center in Rogers.

The annual event brings together delegates from all 50 states, Puerto Rico and Guam.

Keynote speakers for the convention will include U.S. Secretary of Veterans Affairs Eric K. Shinseki and Rep. Steve Womack, R-Ark.

Claude M. Kicklighter, director of the Vietnam 50th Anniversary Commemoration, will brief members on the Department of Defense’s plans for the ceremony, and Bernard K. Skoch, a national cyber warfare expert, will be the guest speaker at the closing banquet Aug. 10.

The Military Order of the Purple Heart was formed in 1932 for the protection and mutual interest of all combat-wounded veterans and active-duty servicemen who have received a Purple Heart.
