Early Wednesday morning someone died on Interstate 540 under the Wedington bridge (in Fayetteville). That bridge is dangerous. The sidewalks are so narrow, a pedestrian could easily be hit by the mirror of a passing vehicle and knocked over therailing onto the freeway.
As the area just west of the Wedington bridge is developed, more and more people cross on foot and on bicycles. This situation is an accident waiting to happen.
A safe pedestrian walkway over the bridge is planned, but may not be built till 2016or later. The work should be done sooner.
