Repaving To Close Township Street

FAYETTEVILLE — A 1-mile stretch of Township Street between Old Wire and Crossover roads will close to traffic for two weeks starting Monday while city crews repave the street.

Drivers who don’t need to access Township are asked to go around the construction site using Old Wire Road.

Work will begin at 6 a.m. and end at 4 p.m. weekdays, according to a news release. The Township Street parking lot at Gulley Park will be closed during work hours, but will be open for Thursday’s Gulley Park Summer Concert Series performance.

Rodgers Drive Repairs Set To Begin

FAYETTEVILLE — Repairs to the surface on Rodgers Drive atop Mount Sequoyah are to begin Monday.

Asphalt on the eastbound lane of Rodgers Drive has settled and, for months, has been sliding down the hillside, according to a news release.

Workers will remove vegetation and install retaining walls. The contractor for the project, Prime Construction, has 55 days to complete the project. Work hours are 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. The westbound lane of Rodgers Drive will remain open during construction.

Sycamore Street Traffic Signals To Go Dark

FAYETTEVILLE — Drivers are asked to be cautious Tuesday and Wednesday while traffic signals at College Avenue and Sycamore Street are temporarily turned off.

Transportation Division workers will install a video traffic detection system, modify equipment and improve wiring in advance of a pedestrian crossing that will be installed.

Stop signs will be put in place for east and westbound traffic on Sycamore Street.
