Eureka Springs schools closed due to illness

Posted: January 23, 2013 at 1:02 p.m.

Schools in the Eureka Springs School District will be closed Thursday and Friday because of illness and a high rate of absenteeism, according to a statement on the district's website.

The statement does not say what type of illness or illnesses were responsible.

Hellstern Middle School in Springdale was closed Friday after about one third of its students were absent Thursday. Arkansas Department of Health tests found norovirus to be the culprit.
