SPORTS CALENDAR

BASEBALL

• The War Eagle Baseball Training Camp will be held Sundays through January to give baseball training to youngsters from kindgarten through eighth-grade who attend a school that feeds into Rogers Heritage. Others who attend private school but live within the Heritage boundaries are also eligible to attend. The training will be held inside the Heritage Indoor athletic facility. Cost is $125 for one participant and $50 for each additional child. Contact Keith Kilgore at [email protected].

• Registration for Bentonville Youth Baseball is under way. Players may register online at www.bentonvillecalripken.org through Feb. 15. League fees are: ages 4-7, $65; ages 8-10, $85; ages 11-16, $95. A $10 late registration fee will be charged for all registrations after Feb.15. The League Age cutoff date for Cal Ripken/Babe Ruth is April 30. If you have played in the league in the last couple of years, please use your SportsPilot user name/password for your child.

Because of the increasing amount of incorrect birthdates during registration, all birth certificates will need to be verified by a BYB Board member. All players who were on a post-season all-star team after Spring 2012 have already been verified. Players will not be placed on a team until their birth certificate has been verified. Players who will be trying out need to bring their birth certificates with them to tryout. The board will be available to verify birth certificates on the following dates at Dink’s BBQ (3404 S.W. Macy Road, Bentonville) from 5 to 7 p.m. each Thursday through Feb. 7, and Tuesday, Feb. 12.

Tryouts will be held inside at the Tiger Athletic Complex on Feb. 16. The times for each age group will be posted on the BYB website. Players who will be ages 10, 12 and 14 who played last spring will not need to try out this year. They will play on the same team as last year. Players not attending a tryout cannot be drafted by a team and will be assigned to a team by a random drawing. Players from ages 4 to 7 will not have a tryout and will be assigned to teams by the commissioner of their age group.

• Springdale Cal Ripken/Babe Ruth Baseball sign-ups for players and coaches begin Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon at the Springdale Youth Center, and will continue daily Monday through Friday through Feb. 22.
