— Fairview’s Jones commits to Missouri State

Camden Fariview defensive tackle Mckinze James, a member of the 2012 Arkansas Democrat-Gazette All-Arkansas team, has orally committed to Missouri State.

James, 6-3, 230 pounds, helped the Cardinals win the Class 5A state championship last fall with 140 tackles, including 63 unassisted, and 13 sacks.

BASKETBALL Hendrix men win

Hendrix’s men held off a late run by Millsaps College for a 69-66 victory at Grove Gymnasium in Conway on Sunday.

The Warriors (6-11, 1-5 Southern Athletic Association) shot a season-best 51 percent (25 of 49) from the field. The Majors shot 38.1 percent (24 of 63) from the field. Millsaps also had a 38-35 rebounding advantage, pulling down 18 offensive rebounds which led to 25 second chance points.

Colton Primm led Hendrix with 18 points on 9-of-13 shooting to go with 15 rebounds, 3 assists and 4 blocked shots. Sophomore forward Luke Vance had 15 points and six rebounds. Senior guard Jaren Riley added eight points and tied his career-high with six assists.

Murray Kastner led Millsaps (3-4, 1-5) with 21 points.

Hendrix women fall to Millsaps

Hendrix’s women stayed winless following a 69-65 loss to Millsaps College on Sunday at Grove Gymnasium in Conway.

Hendrix (0-17, 0-6 Southern Athletic Association) shot 43.6 percent (24 of 55) from the floor. Millsaps (9-8, 5-1) shot 48.3 percent (28 of 58) from the field. The Majors also had a 36-29 rebound advantage.

Junior center Jamie Tate led the Warriors with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Freshman guard Kriesel-Bigler had 11 points, 6 assists and 3 steals. Sophomore forward Lindsay Drillette added 11 points and three assists off the bench.

Velvet Johnson led the Majors with 26 points on 12-of-18 shooting.
