Poche named SEC freshman of the week

— Arkansas pitcher Colin Poche was named the Southeastern Conference's player of the week on Monday.

Poche, a left-hander from Flower Mound, Texas, threw 7 1/3 shutout innings and struck out seven batters in a pair of wins for the Razorbacks. He pitched five innings in a Tuesday start against New Orleans and recorded 2 1/3 innings out of the bullpen against Evansville on Sunday.

Arkansas ranked No. 2 in coaches' poll

He and freshman right-hander Trey Killian have combined to throw 15 innings without an earned run this season for Arkansas (7-1). Killian earned the win in his first career start Sunday.

Poche was a fifth-round selection of the Baltimore Orioles in the 2012 MLB Draft. As a senior at Marcus High School he was named the Dallas Morning News pitcher of the year.
