Alison Raymer, chief executive officer and co-owner of Emerson Monument Co. in Springdale, was elected vice president of the Monument Builders of North America for the 2013-15 term. With a membership of 733, it is the largest international association of individuals and firms in the memorial industry.

Emerson Monument was founded in 1914 as a provider of cemetery and civic memorials. It has been involved in many volunteer cemetery repair projects, including improvements to Evergreen Cemetery in Fayetteville.

Baldwin & Shell Construction Co. has promoted threeemployees from project coordinators to project managers at the Rogers office. Chris Abbott started with the company in 2006, Mario Beltran in 2009 and Matt Vickers in 2011.

Chris Queary was promoted to branch coordinator for Liberty Bank’s center at 2901 S. Walton Blvd., Bentonville. The Rogers native has more than 10 years of banking experience, most recently as head teller and financial services representative.

Kate Williams, D.V.M., of Saint Francis Animal Hospital in Springdale, took officeas president of the Arkansas Veterinary Medical Association at its winter meeting Feb. 8-10 in Hot Springs. The Northwest Arkansas native recently completed Army Reserves deployment to eastern Afghanistan. A major in the U.S. Army Veterinary Corps, she worked with the Nebraska National Guard to train Afghani farmers in livestock improvement practices.

She earned a bachelor’s degree in animal science in 1991 and a master’s degree in animal science parasitology in 1993 from the University of Arkansas. She graduated from the Tuskegee University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1999 after active service in the U.S. Army.

Ted Belden, owner of the Inn at Carnall Hall, received the 2013 A Class Act Industry Award for Hospitality, honoring his contributions to quality of life in Fayetteville with a unique brand of hospitality and quality dining at Ella’s restaurant. He was instrumental in the conversion of the historic Carnall Hall at the University of Arkansas into the 50-room hotel, which opened in 2003.

In collaboration with the university, the Inn provides classroom space and experiential learning opportunities for students in the hospitality and restaurant management program. The program had around 25 majors before the building was converted; it now has around 250 hospitality majors and 230 in dietetics.

The award presentation was part of A Class Act V, which raises funds for the hospitality and restaurant management program in the Dale Bumpers College of Agricultural, Food and Life Sciences.
