— Monastery hosts climate change talk

The Just-Peace Film and Lecture Series continues at 7:30 p.m. March 4 at St. Scholastica Monastery, 1301 S. Albert Pike Ave. Climatologist Robert McAfee of the Climate Reality Project will discuss the impact of oil, gas and coal on the climate. McAfee’s presentation will include photographs, statistical tables and video clips.

Lucado to speak at

fundraising event

ROGERS - Best-selling author Max Lucado will be the keynote speaker at the “Loving the Least” event March 8 at the John Q. Hammons Convention Center, 3303 Pinnacle Hills Parkway. The event, which includes dinner, is a fundraiser for Pioneer Bible Translators, an organization working to translate the Bible into native languages around the world. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.

Lucado has written more than 75 books and has won three Christian Book of the Year awards, for Just Like Jesus, In the Grip of Grace andWhen God Whispers Your Name. In addition to writing, Lucado serves as pastor of preaching at Oak Hills Church in San Antonio. He has been involved with Pioneer Bible Translators since 1992.

Registration is available at pioneerbible.org/lovingtheleast. Tickets are $65 per person or $500 for a table for eight.

Winter Jam comes

to Verizon Arena

Winter Jam 2013, featuring some of the biggest names in Christian music, will be March 10 at Verizon Arena in North Little Rock. Scheduled performers include TobyMac, Red, Matthew West, Jamie Grace, NewSong, Jason Castro, Sidewalk Prophets and more. Nick Hall will be the guest speaker.

Cost is $10 at the door. Doors open at 5 p.m. and the concerts begin at 6.
