SMSGT DONALD F. “DOODLE” DAVIS (USAF, Ret.), 80, of Little Rock, born April 10, 1932 atGrays, Arkansas, passed away on February 20, 2013. He was a lifetime Methodist and a member of the First United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, SistyKelley Davis; sons, Larry F. Davis (Robin) of Whitewright, Texas and Stephen K. Davis of England, Arkansas; two grandchildren, Faleena Dempsey and Sara Davis; and two great-grandchildren, Caitlin and Emily. He was preceded in death by his mother, Rose Lawyer; father, Robert Davis; sister, Bernice Davis; and a son, Ronald T. Davis.

Don was an avid sportsman. He was a member of the Little Rock DP’s golf group at Rebsamen Golf Course and had 9 holes in one in his lifetime. He made All State in basketball and football during his junior and senior years in high school.

He retired from the United States Air Force after 22 years and retired from the Federal Aviation Agency in 1987. He’s been to all 48 continental U.S. states plus Alaska, Canada, Mexico, Japan, Korea, Nova Scotia, Greenland, Azores, Portugal, Spain and Germany.

A special thanks to Dr. Lance Burns and the staff of St. Vincent Infirmary for their loving care. Services will be Saturday February 23, 2013 at 10 a.m. at Little Rock Funeral Home, 8801 Knoedl Court (NW corner I-630 and Barrow Rd.), Little Rock, with the Rev. Mary Jane Cole officiating. Visitation will precede the service, beginning at 9 a.m. Graveside services will be in McCrory, Arkansas at Odd Fellows Cemetery at 2 p.m., officiated by Rev. Carla Ray Thompson.

CABOT - Constance Howell Dodson of Cabot, Arkansas passed away January 21, 2013 at the age of 88. Constance was born in North Little Rock, Arkansas on April 15, 1924. She was a member of the Cabot United Methodist church, where, as a young mother, she enjoyed helping create unique educational activities for children in Vacation Bible School.

Constance was an active member of the Parent-Teacher Association and helped establish one of the earlier clothes closets for underprivileged children in the Cabot school system. Her personal interests include literature, music and art. She and her husband were vibrant participants in a number of fine art activities that served to enrich their community.

Constance is predeceased by her father, David Howell, her mother, Etta Lane Johnston, her husband, Lamar Barnwell Dodson, her brother, David R. Howell, sisters, Sarah Jane Harper and Gloria Jean Hendricks. She is survived by her sister, Joyce Smith of La Mirada, California; three children, Deborah Dodson, Brent Dodson, and Jo Claire Dodson of Cabot, and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Service and interment was Friday, February 1, 2013 at Mount Carmel cemetery, Cabot, Arkansas under the direction of Griffin Leggett-Rest-Hills Funeral Home. CABOT - Gilda Phyllis Herring, 86, of Cabot passed away Thursday, February 21, 2013. She was born in Wynne, AR to the late Harry Goodwin and Girlie Risner Goodwin Mitchell. Gilda was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Truman Mitchell. Gilda was a Seamstress specialized in making beautiful drapes. CABOT - Glendene Rye James, 88, of Cabot, Arkansas, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, February 20, 2013. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who loved flowers, and was a great cook, seamstress and quilter. She was a member of Cabot First Baptist Church.

Glendene is survived by two daughters, Susan Turnbo and husband Alan, and Mary Beth Cates, all of Cabot; three grandchildren, Amanda Turnbo Morris (Richard), Kirk Turnbo and fiance Kathryn, and Bobby Cates (Tori); one great-grandchild, Lucy Morris and soon-to-be born great-grandson, Fletcher; two brothers, James “Doc” Rye and Eugene Rye of Cabot; three sisters, Juanita Morphew and Sue Carrington of Cabot, and Kitty Eaton of Texas. CONCORD - Kenny Brackett, 56, of Concord died early Wednesday morning at WhiteRiver Medical Center in Batesville.

He was born June 29, 1956 in Batesville, Ark., to Lyndle and Faith Brackett of Concord. He worked many jobs throughout his life, butsettled into poultry farming for the last 20 years. He was a faithful member of the Ben Church of Christ and truly cherished all his brothers and sisters there. He loved his family with all he had and they him. He showed his love for everyone daily by his actions. He was the friend you call in a crunch because you knew he would drop anything and everything and be there no matter how big or small. He will be most remembered for his kind heart and his love of life. He was a true example and will be dearly missed.

He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Sandy Brackett; two children, Mandi Roark and her husband Dale and Justin Brackett and his wife, Sara; four treasured grandchildren, Jacob, Gracie, Laney and Gus; two brothers, Seth Brackett and Rodney Brackett and wife Melissa all of Concord; many nieces, nephews; and many, many other family and friends.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the Concord High School Gym with Carl McCann and Randy Cavender officiating and Gary York will be the song leader. Burial will follow the services at Mount Zion Cemetery in Banner under the direction of Roller-Crouch Funeral Home of Batesville.

At the time of her death, Dolores had the distinction of being the oldest member of the First Presbyterian in Hope where she served as elder, Sunday Schoolteacher, and took an active part in women’s ministry.

HOT SPRINGS - Margarette McGhee, 85, of Hot Springs died Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2013. She was born Feb. 16, 1928, in Casa, Ark., to the late Jackson and Zada Carolyn (George) Johnson. Margarette was an elementary school teacher for 41 years. She remembered all of her students by keeping a scrapbook of their accomplishments. She also enjoyed playing the piano.

Margarette is preceded in death by her husband, James McGhee. Survivors include daughter, Janis Rucker, and husband Todd of Hot Springs and grandchildren, Graham Rucker and wife Emily of Russellville and Hannah Rucker of Hot Springs.

HOT SPRINGS - Ella Mae Pearson, 79, of Hot Springs, Ark., died peacefully Feb. 19, 2013, at theTrinity Hospice House in Collierville, Tenn. She was born April 2, 1933, in Memphis, Tenn., to the late Edgar and Beulah Moody. She graduated from Cabot High School and attended Ouachita Baptist University. After retirement from the state office of Farm Bureau in Little Rock, Ms. Pearson moved to Hot Springs. She was an active member of First Baptist Church.

Ms. Pearson is survived by two brothers and their wives, Davy and Effie Moody of Austin and Joel and Joyce Moody of Hot Springs; a sister and her husband, Joan and Charles Baker of Collierville, Tenn.; and a half-sister, Crete Burge of Blytheville. She is also survived by a daughter, Cherie Pearson of Cabot; a son and his wife, Dale and Dee-Ann Pearson of Little Rock; and a son, Randall Pearson of Fort Worth, Texas. She also leaves two grandchildren, Andrew Mitchell of Conway and Victoria Mitchell of Beebe.

BARTLESVILLE, Okla. - Dr. Andrew Antonio Pringos, 97, died February 12, 2013, in Bartlesville, Okla. He was known to his friends as Hank.

Dr. Pringos was born March 19, 1915, in Richmond, Va., to Antonio and Smaragda (Papanastassia) Pringos. The young couple had emigrated from Zagora, Greece, in 1912. Hank grew up in Petersburg, Va., where his three younger sisters were born. His father died in 1922, leaving his mother to support the family through the family restaurant where she worked the 12-hour day shift. Hank attended public schools in Petersburg and earned both his undergraduate degree and his medical degree at The University of Virginia.

He met Harriet Barbara Phillips of Altheimer, Ark., while they were students at the university. They were married in 1942 at Charleston, S.C., while they were both serving in the armed forces. Dr. Pringos had been inducted into the U.S. Navy as a medical officer at the beginning of WWII. He served in the South Pacific and was later discharged with the rank of Commander from the Naval Reserves.

Upon completion of his residency in internal medicine at Charity Hospital through Tulane University, New Orleans, Dr. Pringos established a medical practice in Little Rock. He practiced there from 1947 until 1980. At one time he served as Chief of Staff at St. Vincent Infirmary and for many years served on the teaching staff at the University of Arkansas Medical Center.

Dr. Pringos was preceded in death by his wife, Harriet Phillips Pringos; son, Lawrence Theodore Pringos; sister, Theodora Pringos; and niece, Maria Levathes Sherin. Survivors include his daughter, Angela Pringos Box and husband Roger of Bartlesville, Okla.; daughterin-law, Mary Shanklin Pringos of Altheimer, Ark.; granddaughter, Laura Box Thurmond and husband Harris, with daughters, Audrey and Veronica; and granddaughter, Andrea Box Maher and husband Tom, with daughters, Adeline and Mary, all of Austin, Texas. He is also survived by two sisters, Antonia Pringos of Washington, D.C., and Effie Pringos Levathes and husband Louis and their daughter Georgia Levathes Cullum and family, all of Harper’s Ferry, W.Va.; and other nieces and nephews as well as many dear friends.

A man of gracious Southern manners, Hank always greeted friends with a hug, a chuckle and a twinkle in his eye. He hadmany interests including music, woodworking and watercolors, but most of all he enjoyed and loved people.

Interment will take place in Bellwood Cemetery, Pine Bluff at 10:30 a.m. on Feb 25, under the direction of Ralph Robinson & Son. A reception celebrating his life will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. at Elder Care in Bartlesville, Okla., on Saurday, March 9. Ralston of Austin, Texas; Machelle Williams (Doug) of Bauxite, Arkansas; and Tonya Eddy (Alan) of Slater, Missouri; five grandchildren, Brandi Phillips (Brian) of Little Rock, Arkansas; Erica Ralston of Austin, Texas; and Austin, Cassie and Lexi of Slater, Missouri; one brother, Garland Conley (Judy), and two nieces, Raylynn Boyd and Stephanie Pinson, all of De-Witt, Arkansas. Max was a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather.

He enriched the lives of all who knew him and will be forever missed. Words cannot express the sincere appreciation we feel for the help and support of the Cima Hospice staff who gave loving care of Max these past two years. Services are under the direction of Ric Brown Family Funeral Home in Mission.
