Tortilla chips tasty but kind of flimsy

— Pepperidge Farm and Pace recently sent information on some new products that were available before the Super Bowl, but the information didn’t arrive in time to meet our deadlines. The products should all be in stores now.

Pepperidge Farm’s Baked Naturals Tortilla Chips are made with stone-ground corn and are triangular, like the majority of tortilla chips. The chips come in Simply Tortilla and Nacho Cheese versions, and cost about $3 per bag.

I do like these chips, but it seems like the bags (or the chips) aren’t very sturdy, so a lot of what comes out of the bag are small shards instead of whole chips. But they are tasty.

Pace has two new things in which to dip your tortilla chips. First is the Jalapeno & Pepper Jack Dip. I don’t normally enjoy spicy dips, so I was a bit hesitant to try it, but the white concoction was flavorfulwithout being overwhelming. I tasted the mild version, and the jalapeno has a pleasant bite to it, while the Jack cheese was thankfully not too spicy. It sells for about $3.50 per jar.

Pace’s Garlic & Lime Verde Restaurant Style Salsa is made with tomatillos, cilantro, onions, fresh garlic and lime. It received high marks from newsroom tasters. It sells for about $3 per jar.

NoOodles (pronounced no-oodles) are ready to eat and high in soluble fiber for those of us still trying to eat healthier as a part of our new year’s resolutions.

The noodles are made with filtered water and yam flour, and are precooked. They contain no calories, fat, sugars or protein, but do have one gram of carbohydrate and fiber. I’ve tried these in the past, and they’re sort of nondescript, but that’s not abad thing. They are versatile and with the right sauce or seasonings make a palatable alternative to traditional pasta.

The company’s website, Nooodle.com, has an abundance of information on the products as well as recipes.

You can buy NoOodles through the website, but there is a store locator too. It shows they’re carried in Arkansas at Whole Foods Market.
