Traffic Stop Yields Weapons, Drugs

— Police arrested a West Fork man after finding nine weapons and drugs in his truck Sunday, according to an arrest report.

Michael Bynum, 28, of 965 N. Centennial Hill Ave. in West Fork faces felony possession of methamphetamine with intent to deliver, simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms, six counts of possession of drug paraphernalia and misdemeanor charges of possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Police said Bynum showed signs of nervousness, including trembling hands and sweat, after his Dodge pickup was stopped for driving left of a center line. Bynum denied having drugs in his vehicle and also did not give an officer permission to search his vehicle, according to the report.

A drug-sniffing dog signaled potential drugs in the truck, police said. Officers said they found nine guns, including two shotguns, a rifle, three revolvers and a pistol, police said. Officers also found almost 2 grams of methamphetamine, 0.7 grams of marijuana, three glass pipes, a digital scale, several small clear plastic bags and rolling papers, police said.

Bynum was released from the Washington County Detention Center on Monday on a $4,020 bond.
