Car hits gas meter, causes evacuation in Fayetteville

Residents in the area of Stone Street and Eastern Avenue briefly evacuated their homes Tuesday after a car struck a gas meter.
University of Arkansas Lt. Matt Mills said a blue Toyota Solara was speeding and tried to turn in the area of Eastern and Stone.
Mills said the driver fled, but was quickly caught by Fayetteville police. No charges have been filed yet. Fayetteville Police Sgt. Craig Stout said investigators are waiting on the results of a drug test.
