Will Take Charge, with jockey Jon Court aboard, won the first big purse of the 2013 meeting with a victory in the $150,000 Smarty Jones Stakes on Jan. 21 in Hot Springs.

Anthony filly falls, put down — An unstarted 3-year-old filly bred and owned by John Ed Anthony of Hot Springs was euthanized after a freak accident during training hours Thursday morning at Oaklawn Park.
