Springdale Teens Arrested In Shooting

SPRINGDALE — Two teens were arrested Wednesday in connection with incidents in which a man reported they shot at him.

Julio Jesus Rodriguez, 19, of 304B Roberts Circle in Springdale was arrested in connection with felony terroristic threatening, engaging in a continuing criminal enterprise, theft by receiving and misdemeanor carrying a prohibited weapon. A 16-year-old boy was also arrested after the incident. Names of juveniles who are arrested aren't released by police.

A man reported Rodriguez and the teen shot at his vehicle, according to police records. He reported an earlier shooting on Sunday.

The victim reported Rodriguez shot at him, his girlfriend and his mother on Sunday. Rodriguez yelled “WBS” while he was shooting, according to records. WBS stands for Wicked Brown Suspects, a gang in Springdale, according to police.

Police couldn't find bullet holes or shell casings to substantiate the earlier shooting, but looked for Rodriguez to question him, according to records.

The man said he saw Rodriguez on Wednesday driving a maroon GMC Envoy near the intersection of Harve Street and McRay Avenue. When he followed the vehicle, Rodriguez and the juvenile shot at him, passing a gun back and forth, according to records.

The man called 911 and continued to follow Rodriguez. Five or six shots were fired, including some near Elmdale Elementary School while classes were underway, according to records. Officers found a possible bullet ricochet mark on the victim’s vehicle. Officers pulled the Envoy over and arrested the two teens.

A stolen .22-caliber pistol that was thrown from the vehicle and a switchblade knife were found during the arrest, according to records.

Rodriguez was in the Washington County Detention Center on Thursday in lieu of $100,000 bond.
