Where I live: I live in Little Rock’s historic Quapaw Quarter, close to the Governor’s Mansion. I am single with two dogs - a Doberman and a Yorkie.
Occupation: Self-employed. I re-model old buildings and houses. I’ve finished a four plex nearby, and I’m working on a couple of buildings in downtown Little Rock.
My favorite space: My large front porch, which is original to the house.
Why? Although I enjoy my bright and airy kitchen and an upstairs den area for reading and watching movies, the place I truly enjoy the most is my front porch. In the spring and summer, I love taking the paper and my coffee outside and enjoying the morning. It’s also my favorite place to wind down at the end of a busy day, sipping a glass of wine and greeting the neighbors as they walk past. In fact, more times than not the neighbors will join me on the front porch. This neighborhood has such an old-fashioned sense of community, and socializing on the front porch is such a throwback to a simpler time. It is great fun to gather 10 to 20 friends out here for cocktails and conversation.
If I could change one thing to improve this space I would: I would have porch-perfect weather year round.
