FRIDAY’S COLLEGE BASEBALL ROUNDUPS

SUN BELT CONFERENCE

UALR 5, WESTERN KENTUCKY 0

Chance Cleveland turned in his best performance of the season to help UALR snap its four-game losing streak.

The senior right-handed pitcher from Pine Bluff scattered three hits and struck out 10 while walking one in a complete-game victory at Gary Hogan Field in Little Rock. Cleveland (5-6) didn’t allow a hit until the fifth inning, never allowed more than one hit in an inning and allowed only two Western Kentucky runners to get past first base.

The Trojans (19-22, 6-13 Sun Belt Conference) gave Cleveland all the support he needed with two runs in the first. John Clark’s single to right field scored Ben Crumpton to give UALR a 1-0 lead, and Chris Burk followed with a single to left field that scored Austin Pfeiffer to make it 2-0.

Clark made it 3-0 in the fifth when his single up the middle scored Pfeiffer, and UALR added two more runs in the seventh when Kaleb Jobe’s single drove in Clark and Myles Parma hit a sacrifice fly.

Clark went 3 for 4 with 2 RBI and 1 run scored for the Trojans, while Crumpton and Pfieffer had two hits apiece. The three hits for Western Kentucky (22-20, 11-8) tied its season-low.
