Science, Art Open House Set For Rogers High School

ROGERS — The science and art departments at Rogers High School will host their annual open house from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the school, 2300 S. Dixieland Road.

The event will feature students conducting experiments and explaining science displays as well as exhibits of student art and other activities, according to a news release. The public is invited.

The art exhibit will feature projects from ceramics and graphic design classes. Students will demonstrate techniques in wheel-thrown and hand-built pottery, drawing, painting, animation and digital design.

The Mountie Art Club will have a special show featuring traditional art as well as graphic artwork in the form of two-dimensional clay animation, Flash animations and other digital media. Participants can have a digital caricature made of themselves.

Biology classes will feature frog calls, frog identification, frog origami and videos. AP Biology classes will host a petting zoo with a variety of live animals. The Outdoor Education Ecology class will demonstrate tying flies for fly fishing.

Chemistry students will demonstrate carbon dioxide bubbles and shrink wrap people. Participants can make homemade ice cream, “gold” pennies, slime, marbled paper and goofy putty. Physical Science classes will have activities related to color, light and sound.

The Anatomy and Physiology class will conduct a blood drive in conjunction with the Community Blood Center of the Ozarks.
