Electronic Cigarettes Banned in Library

ROGERS — Electronic cigarettes have been banned from the Rogers Public Library.

The library’s board took the action Tuesday.

“We added electronic cigarettes to our no tobacco policy,” said Judy Casey, library director.

The wording to be added to policy has been sent to Ben Lipscomb, city attorney, for review.

“We wanted to run it by the city attorney to make sure the wording is legally correct. If he approves the wording, that’s the end of it. If he makes changes we will review the new wording at our next meeting,” Casey said.

The ban was initiated after some library patrons complained about people using the electronic cigarettes in the library.

Electronic cigarettes don’t produce smoke, but instead vaporize a liquid solution into an aerosol mist, according to manufacturers of the devices.
