FAYETTEVILLE — University of Arkansas administrators evacuated two architecture studios Friday after a student posted a threatening tweet.
Lt. Gary Crain said the student was Carlos Martinez.
Martinez was arrested in connection with felony terroristic threatening and misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance.
Crain said architecture studios in the Old Field House on Garland Avenue and at the uptown campus, near the Northwest Arkansas Mall, were evacuated about 1 p.m. Friday after Martinez posted a threatening tweet.
“The administrators in both buildings made the decision to close those two studios,” he said. “The other studios remained opened.”
Crain said Martinez was in possession of a “small amount” of marijuana at the time of his arrest.
Martinez hadn’t been booked into the Washington County Detention Center as of Friday evening and no additional information was available.
