Three Arrested In Stabbing Incident

SPRINGDALE — A fight at a convenience store Thursday left two men hospitalized and three people in jail.

Edgar Hinojoza, 18, of 12833 Bryant Lane in Rogers and Jose Alvarez, 19, of 2302 W. Spruce St. in Rogers were arrested Thursday in connection with felony first-degree battery.

Ana Barrientos, 30, of 2314 W. Pecan St. in Rogers was also arrested Thursday in connection with felony hindering apprehension.

A 911 call at 5:51 p.m. Thursday reported a fight in progress at E-Z Mart, 320 E. Robinson Ave.

When officers arrived, they found two men with stab wounds. Kevon Sturkey, 19, and Courtney Haskell, 21, were taken by ambulance to Northwest Medical Center-Springdale with abdomen wounds.

Witnesses said the other participants in the fight fled in a white passenger car. An Arkansas State trooper stopped a white Pontiac Grand Prix on Wagon Wheel Road containing two men and two women.

One woman wasn’t arrested.

A surveillance video of the fight showed the men who were arrested were the aggressors, according to a news release.

Both of the injured men were in good condition Friday, said Pat Driscoll, medical center spokeswoman.

Hinojoza and Alvarez remained in the Washington County Detention Center on Friday in lieu of $25,000 bond each.

Barrientos was released from the Washington County Detention Center on Friday on $5,000 bond.
