— Not the Cowboys you think

If you are looking for the team take on the Dallas Cowboys’ game with the Chicago Bears on Monday night, you probably should stay away from Cowboys.com. But if you just can’t resist the urge to do so, you will probably be surprised to see what website pops up.

It’s a safe bet Jerry Jones did not have this in mind.

The debacle started in 2007, when the Cowboys organization had a winning bid of $275,000 on the Cowboys.com domain name but didn’t pay up due to an internal miscommunication.

The site sat for several years, but now, the owners of the domain have set things up.

The Dallas Cowboys can still be found at Dallas Cowboys.com,of course, but you’d assume that the team would have liked to own the shorter and seemingly more obvious domain name as well.

However, those pesky extra digits befuddled them, a then-silent bidder swept in and took the name for a larger bid, and a whole lot of people looking for news and notes on America’s Team will instead get a dating site for “men who enjoy the same country living lifestyle.”

“We are extremely excited to have decided on a direction for this property,” Darren Cleveland recently said in a news release.

Cleveland is the President of City Advertising and part of the owners’ group. “Gay dating is a primary target for this website.

However, we will also serve the needs of straight daters as well.” Giddy Up

Retired thoroughbred Zenyatta was honored with a life-sized bronze statue unveiled Saturday at Santa Anita in Arcadia, Calif.

The mare’s owners, Jerry and Ann Moss, were on hand in searing heat to see the 1,200-pound statue that captures Zenyatta in her trademark prancing pose. It’s located near the paddock in front of the Kingsbury Fountain with the track’s Art Deco facade as a backdrop.

Fans chanted “horse of a lifetime” after the tarp came off. Zenyatta had a career record of 19-1, including a victory against male horses in the 2009 Breeders’ Cup Classic and was named 2010 Horse of the Year.

Now 8 years old, Zenyatta is a broodmare at Lane’s End Farm in Kentucky. She gave birth to a colt sired by Bernardini in March and is pregnant with her second foal.

Peace offering

A Seattle Seahawks fan is trying to smooth things over with Wisconsin after the disputed touchdown call that decided Monday night’s game against the Green Bay Packers.

Rudy McCoy-Pantoja Jr., a landscaper in Seattle, said he wanted to send local beer, smoked salmon and kringles pastries to Green Bay’s mayor, but Jim Schmitt wouldn’t accept it.

His office said the mayor doesn’t participate with gift exchanges during the regular season.

So McCoy-Pantoja Jr. put his finger on his globe to find a different Wisconsin city and decided on Delavan in southeastern Wisconsin.

Delavan Mayor Mel Nieuwenhuis agreed to exchange gifts. He plans to send a six- or 12-pack of Miller High Life, cheese and fresh venison he hunted himself.

Quote of the day

“You don’t get points for first downs, you don’t get points for yardage. You get points for touchdowns, you know, and we didn’t have very many of those.” Arkansas quarterback Tyler Wilson on the Razorbacks lack of scoring Saturday
