Three Motorcycle Accidents Reported On I-540

— At least three accidents were reported on Interstate 540 during the first two days of Bikes, Blues & BBQ.

Greggory Morris, 65, of Hot Springs was in fair condition Thursday after State Police said he lost control of his motorcycle at 5:44 p.m.

According to an accident report, Rebekah Wolf, 47, of Hot Springs, was riding behind Morris as he drove north.

The two were headed to the rally when the back tire blew and Morris lost control of the cycle. He went onto the northbound shoulder, overturned and slid down the shoulder.

Police said Morris and Wolf were wearing helmets.

Morris was taken to Washington Regional Medical Center.

The report said Wolf was injured, but she wasn’t listed as a patient at the hospital.

State police responded to two accidents involving motorcycles on I-540 Thursday afternoon, but additional details weren’t immediately available.

According to police scanner traffic, one accident happened just before 4 p.m. south of Wagon Wheel Road in Springdale. Police said at least one person was taken to the hospital. The other accident reportedly happened about 4:15 p.m. near exits to Rogers.

Fayetteville Police Sgt. Craig Stout said no motorcycle accidents were reported Wednesday night through Thursday evening in Fayetteville.

Stout said two people were cited in connection with public intoxication and one person was cited in connection with driving the wrong way on Watson Street on Wednesday.

No arrests had been reported as of Thursday evening.

Stout said police closed Dickson Street to vehicles other than motorcycles at 1 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday because of traffic congestion. He said he doesn’t remember police closing any streets during the first two days of the motorcycle rally.

Other street closings inside the event area will begin as public safety dictates.
