Lincoln High School Locked Down

Lincoln High School was on lockdown for 16 minutes Thursday morning after a student made undisclosed threats about the school, said Superintendent Clay Hendrix.

The unidentified student apparently made threatening remarks to other students Wednesday night and the students reported the incident to Principal Mary Ann Spears before school started Thursday, Hendrix said.

Spears notified Lincoln police and Hendrix, who ordered the lockdown from 8:32 a.m. to 8:48 a.m. Hendrix said he didn’t know the nature of the threats, the age or grade of the student.

Police arrived on campus within minutes and took the student into custody, Hendrix said. No weapons were involved and no injuries were reported.

After the student was taken into custody, normal activities resumed at the school, Hendrix said.

The lockdown was to keep students in the classrooms with doors and windows secured until the potential threat no longer existed.

The high school, which includes grades 8-12, has 510 students, Hendrix said.

The middle and elementary schools were not involved.
