— Elsewhere in entertainment and the arts: No Pretty Lights

Storm damage to the roof of the Riverfest Amphitheatre sustained during the advent of the tropical depression known as Isaac has forced the cancellation of Wednesday’s Pretty Lights concert. Ticket holders can obtain a refund at the point of purchase; Ticketmaster automatically will refund online and phone purchases.

Documentary peek

The Arkansas Educational Television Network, radio station KUAR-FM, 89.1, and the William F. Laman Library will sponsor a screening of the documentary film As Goes Janesville at 6:30 p.m. Monday in the auditorium of Laman’s main library, 2801 Orange St., North Little Rock.

Shot over three years, the documentary follows the lives of four residents of Janesville, Wis., where in 2008, then-bankrupt General Motors shut down a century-old plant, resulting in the loss of thousands of jobs.

Admission is free. The screening is part of the monthly Community Cinema Screenings. A discussion will follow. Call (800) 662-2386 or visit aetn.org/communitycinema.

The documentary will air on AETN at 9 p.m. Oct. 8.

Perry cancels

Actor-director Tyler Perry has canceled the leg of his Madea Gets a Job tour that would have brought him Sunday to North Little Rock’s Verizon Arena. Ticket refunds are available at the original point of purchase, according to an arena spokesman.

Perry, in a statement announcing the cancellation, blamed scalpers as well as high fees applied by ticket brokers.

“Add to that, when you go online looking for tickets, in lots of cases, you are being led to a bootlegger and you don’t even know it,” he says.

“There are a lot of ticket bootleggers and scalpers that buy lots of shows and sell them to the public for double, sometimes triple the price. I’ve been dealing with this for years, but now with the Internet I’ve never seen it this bad.”

In his statement, Perry also cited apparent scammers, “some horrible people who are pretending to be me or representing me on Facebook and charging people [$150] to do a meet-and-greet on the tour. That’s not me.”
