Burglaries On Rise In Bella Vista

— A series of daytime burglaries in the city remains unresolved.

Police Capt. Tim Cook said there have been 37 burglaries, commercial and residential, from the start of the year through August. The total for 2011 was 22.

There’s no area targeted as reports have been made throughout the city. Items stolen include jewelry, electronics, computers, money, firearms, tools and copper tubing from an air conditioning unit.

Cook urges homeowners to be sure their homes are locked and secured. Installing deadbolt locks on exterior doors, keeping in contact with neighbors and reporting anything suspicious to police are ways to deter crime, he said.

“Don’t approach subjects, but try to be as observant as possible,” Cook said.
