PERSONAL SPACE: Kerry Jensen

Where I live: We live outside of Avoca on Beaver Lake. This property was actually bought by my mother- and father-in-law the same year my wife and I were married. They had plans to move out here. They had the garage built and the foundation for the home put in when my father-in-law got cancer and passed away. We bought it from my mother-in-law and redesigned the home for the current foundation to accommodate a growing family of five. We had the house built up to the sheet rock stage, and then my wife and I went in and finished it, did the woodwork on it and built the deck.
Occupation: Executive director of Main Street Rogers. The Main Street program focuses on the historic preservation and promotion of a downtown area. We are affiliated with Main Street Arkansas. We’re really like a little mini chamber of commerce with a really focused area.
My favorite space: My sailboat.
Why? It’s a 36-foot Hunter sailboat with cabins. What my wife and I enjoy the most is to get away on the boat for a couple of days on Beaver Lake. That’s our cabin on the lake. My grandparents were the first Evinrude outboard dealers in the state of Kansas, so I have boated since I was born. I have always enjoyed it because it was a family sport.
If I could do one thing to improve this space I would: Share it with our kids and grandchild more.
