Fight Sends Four to Hospital

Springdale firefighters remove a girl Friday from the Springdale High School’s Alternative Learning Environment building at 1103 Center St. in Springdale after a report of a fight between five girls began after an exchange of messages Thursday night on a social networking site, according to Rick Schaeffer, School District spokesman. One of the girls may have become involved unintentionally, said Lt. Kevin Lewis, police public information officer. Four of the girls were taken to Northwest Medical Center-Springdale as a precaution, Lewis said. The worst injury appeared to be a pencil jabbed into one girl’s leg, he said. The ALE building for freshmen is on the Springdale High School campus, but operates under the direction of the center in the old Layman’s furniture building, Schaeffer said. The girls were treated and released from the hospital, Schaeffer said.
A fight at the ninth-grade alternative education center sent four girls to the hospital Friday.
