Lowell man sentenced for possession of child pornography

Carmen Boche-Perez, 54, of Lowell was sentenced on Tuesday to 70 months of imprisonment without parole for possession of child pornography, Conner Eldrige, the U.S. Attorney for the western district of Arkansas said.

United States District Court Judge Jimm Larry Hendren ordered Boche-Perez to pay $12,500 in fines and serve five years of supervised release upon his release from prison, a Department of Justice news release said.

The department said court documents from Oct. 27, 2010 state that immigration agents came in contact with Boche-Perez as he attempted to cross the border from Mexico into the United States.

The agents searched Boche-Perez's luggage and found DVDs that had video of minors engaging in sexual activity, and at that time he admitted to having another DVD of child pornography at his Lowell, Ark. residence, authorities said.

A federal search warrant was obtained and a search of the residence revealed a DVD with multiple video clips of child pornography, the department said. Boche-Perez pleaded guilty on May 10 to one count of possession of child pornography accounting for the single DVD with child pornography found in Lowell, the department said.

The Department of Justice said the case was investigated by Homeland Security Investigations and was prosecuted for the United States by Assistant United States Attorney Dustin Roberts.
