Brandon Gates, right, a Rogers Heritage running back, fights for extra yards while being brought down by Rogers High defensive lineman Alex McClung during Friday’s game at Gates Stadium in Rogers.

The momentum changed in hurry for Rogers Heritage on Friday night. Heritage returned a fumble for a touchdown and a blocked punt for another score in a 1 minute, 54 second span in the second quarter as the War Eagles erased a 14-0 Rogers lead and went on to post a 41-28 victory over the Mounties at Gates Stadium.

Why The War Eagles Won

Heritage used a fumble return for a touchdown and a blocked punt return for another score to score 20 unanswered points in the first half. Running back Brandon Gates rushed for 113 yards, including 107 after halftime.

Why The Mounties Lost

The Mounties couldn’t overcome their mistakes, including a late personal foul that kept a Heritage scoring drive alive, despite 161 yards rushing by quarterback Nick Wary.
