Park Offers Prowl For Owls

Hobbs State Park-Conservation Area has set two owl prowls for 6:30 p.m. on Saturday and another at 5:30 p.m. on Nov. 10.

Bob and Cathy Ross will lead the owl prowls into woods near the park and call to barred owls. Owls respond to their expert calling and often come within sight of owl prowlers in thenighttime forest.

The group is limited to 15. Cost is $5 per person. Bring a flashlight and dress appropriately for the weather.

Call the park visitor center at 479-789-5000 to reserve a spot.

“Barred owls are micecatching machines,” Bob Ross said. “With their unmatched eyesight, hearing and stealthy flight mice don’t stand a chance.
