RELIGION NOTES

John Maxwell will present a six-week class on Old Testament and New Testament worship at the Northwest Arkansas Orthodox Christian Mission in Rogers. Maxwell will explore the characteristics in Old Testament worship and its feast days and look at how this was transfigured into the early church.

The church meets at the Prairie Creek Community Center, 14432 Arkansas 12 East. The classes are at 1 p.m. this Sunday and July 15, Aug. 5, 12, 19 and 26.

Bella Vista Church of Christ in Bentonville, 989 N.W. McNelly Road, will celebrate the nation’s birthday at 6 p.m. Sunday at the Lake Avalon pavilion with a devotional of patriotic songs,the Pledge of Allegiance, prayers and a short message.

The service will be followed by a cookout and games for the children.

Craig and Donna McClun, Evangelical Free Church of America ReachGlobal home office staff missionaries, will provide an update of their ministry at 9:30 a.m. Sunday at Village Bible Evangelical Free Church in Bella Vista, 210 Town Center S.E.

The church family will gather at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday for fellowship and an all-American indoor picnic of hot dogs, chips, watermelon and cookies. This will be followed by a time of prayer to give thanks for God’s grace toward the nation and pray for America’s spiritual needs.

First United Methodist Church of Bella Vista, 20Boyce Drive, will present a concert at 7 p.m. Friday with pianists Utako Tanigawa and David Fountain featuring the music of Haydn, Schubert, Beethoven, Schumann, Chopin, Debussy and Liszt. Admission is free and a reception will follow.
