POWER Receives Donation

ROGERS - The Walmart Foundation and the Walmart NW Arkansas Championship golf tournament made a $350,000 donation to Goodwill Industries of Arkansas’ POWER program on Thursday.

POWER is an acronym for Providing Opportunities for Women through Education and Resources. The program helps women who are unemployed and living in poverty. It provides a number of support services, assists in helping secure employment and job training as well as other services.

“The POWER program will focus on women, getting them ready for the work force, getting them employed and ultimately give them the resources they need to help their family,” said Brian Itzkowitz, president and CEO of Goodwill Industries of Arkansas.

“We are grateful for this grant and support, and moreover are looking forward to partnering to positively impact the lives of hundreds of families in Northwest Arkansas and to help them live better lives.”

Itzkowitz and LPGA Tour player Paula Creamer were also on hand for the presentation. The Walmart Foundation provided $250,000, and the tournament added another $100,000. Itzkowitz said the donation will allow POWER to reach 44 percent
