Washington County Judge Marilyn Edwards today issued a ban on burning in Washington County. The ban remains in effect until she cancels it.
"Lack of precipitation and extremely high temperatures have cause vegetation through the area to become highly combustible," the statement said.
The ban means outdoor burning of any type is prohibited. Violation can result in a citation and fine. The ban will be lifted only when weather and moisture conditions permit, the statement said.
