Murry’s is going Barefoot; Floridians play bluegrass

— Murry’s Dinner Playhouse, 6323 Colonel Glenn Road, Little Rock, kicks off its theatrical shoes and goes Barefoot in the Park, Tuesday-July 22.

The classic Neil Simon comedy focuses on a young couple, Corie (Annie Gaarder) and Paul Bratter (James Mainard O’Connell), six days married, who have just moved into a rickety fifth-floor Greenwich Village walk-up.

The hole in the skylight and the indignities of dealing with the telephone repair man (Roger M. Eaves) and a delivery person (a cameo for stage manager Keylan Alderson) who has to carry a load up five flights of stairs (plus the “stoop”) are far less threatening to their newly wedded bliss than the interference of her mother (Candyce Hinkle) and the over-friendly, oddball upstairs neighbor Victor Velasco (director Glen J. Gilbert).

Doors open at 6 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday; 11 a.m. for Sunday and Wednesday matinees (June 27, July 11, no show July 4), 5:30 p.m. Sunday evening. Tickets (including buffet and show) are $31 Sunday evening-Thursday, $33 Friday-Saturday, $29 Sunday and Wednesday matinees, $23 for children (show-only tickets: $25, $15 children). Call (501) 562-3131 or visit murrysdinnerplayhouse.com.
