A boating accident in the Beav-o-rama community injured one person this afternoon.
A boater pulled up to a dock shortly after 4 pm., asking residents to call 911 because his passenger was injured, said Kelly Cantrell of the Washington County Sheriff's Office. The male passenger was taken to a hospital. His condition is unknown, Cantrell said.
The accident apparently involved a waterskiier who either crashed or had a medical problem, said Alan Bland of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
"We don't know much yet, but it sounds nasty," he said.
The area is technically part of Beaver Lake, but is more of a river environment than other areas of the lake.
