An evening of family fun is planned at the Botanical Garden of the Ozarks during the annual Firefly Fling, set for 6-8 p.m. Saturday.
Guests can make colorful mandalas using natural materials near the Japanese Garden, according to a Botanical Garden of the Ozarks news release. Other activities include creative writing, a sound wall, water wall, fairy and tree house building and old-fashioned toys and games.
Kids can also build shakers out of recycled bottles, participate in a critter search, play with sand tables, learn about insects and makebug masks.
Music at the event will be provided by Jules Taylor’s Shaky Bugs, followed at 7:30 p.m. by Sugar on the Floor. Once the sun sets, the Kaleidoscope Dance Academy will perform in black-light costumes, and the Night Blossom Fire Spinners will also perform.
Families can buy lanterns for $10 to take part in the grand finale lantern launch.
Tickets are $8 for an individual, $24 for a family of four and $40 for a group of six. Reserve a spot by contacting the Botanical Garden of the Ozarks at 750-2620 or visiting bgozarks.
