— A quick start was all Siloam Springs needed Thursday against Wagoner, Okla.

The Lady Panthers went on a 15-0 run spanning the first and second quarters and easily defeated the Lady Bulldogs 52-25 in the opening round of the Siloam Springs Holiday Invitational.

Siloam Springs will play Tahlequah, Okla., at 6:30 p.m. today in the quarterfinals. Tahlequah beat Gentry earlier in the day, 53-20.

The Lady Panthers led 7-4 in the first quarter and went on a 15-0 run to make it 22-4 with 6 minutes, 35 seconds left in the second.

“I was real happy with our ball movement and our defensive hedging,” Siloam Springs girls basketball coach Brett Sanders. “We definitely rebounded the ball better.”

Krista Lopez had a basket inside in that stretch, and Mirna Torres hit a 3-pointer from the corner. Baily Cameron scored three times inside, including converting a 3-point play to cap the run.

The Lady Panthers pulled ahead 28-9 at halftime and led by as many as 27 points in the second half. Cameron led Siloam Springs with 22 points, while Bailee Owens had nine.

“I think all the girls looked more ready to play at the start,” Sanders said. “Us getting a few bump shots inside with Baily helped. Working the ball inside and her scoring was a big factor.”

Kristen Robbins scored 14 points to lead Wagoner (0-6).
