Instead of a year in jail at our tax payer’s expense, how about ordering them counseling and therapy, then once ready, teaching them what they did wrong, and the repercussions and consequences, then afterwards, ordering them to provide community service teaching community parents how to avoid this horrible circumstance in the future. Parenting classes are everywhere. Many are court ordered due to custodial issues or divorce or sadly, abuse. They'd be more effective speakers in front of the class discussing this tragedy to parents required to attend parenting classes rather than sitting in jail don’t you think? I’d be moved to hear their story and likely remember to never make this mistake with my children, wouldn’t you also?
