Suspicious Powder Found At Post Office

— Emergency crews responded to the discovery of a powdery substance at the U.S. Postal Service Processing and Distribution Facility, 2300 S. City Lake Road, on Monday night.

The incident was confirmed by Mauro Campos, Fayetteville Fire Battalion Chief. Campos was not on the scene Monday night and did not have specifics of the incident.

Fayetteville police blocked off road access Monday night along Arkansas 156, also known as Morningside Drive and South City Lake Road.

Radio communication about the incident began after 7 p.m. As many as 31 people were said to be in the building at the time of the evacuation, according to the radio communication at 8:40 p.m. Responders said people were allowed to re-enter the building at 9:30 p.m.

No one at Fayetteville Fire Station 1 could confirm the details heard through radio communication Monday night before press time. Police officers posted on Morningside Drive and at South City Lake Road would not allow access to the scene’s commanders.
